Versions and Powertrain

The ‘21 Tundra is offered in SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, and TRD Pro trim levels. Two cab configurations are available – Double or CrewMax – as well as three bed lengths: 5.5-ft., 6.5-ft., and 8.1-ft. The SR is only made with the Double cab and either the 6.5-ft. or 8.1-ft. bed. The Limited and TRD Pro are only eligible for the 5.5-ft. or 6.5-ft. bed. The Platinum and 1794 Edition only come in the CrewMax body style with the 5.5-ft. bed.

The sole powertrain is a 381 hp (401 lb.-ft. of torque) 5.7-liter V8 with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drivetrain. Four-wheel drive is optional for all trims, but with the TRD Pro it’s standard. A properly equipped Tundra can tow up to 10,200 pounds.

Amenities by Trim Level

The SR comes with front and rear mud guards, heated side mirrors, keyless entry, a rearview camera, a 40/20/40 split fold-down front bench seat, and 60/40 split fold-up rear seats. The SR5 gets fog lights, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a USB media port, and two USB charge ports. The SR5 is eligible for an SR5 Upgrade Package, a TRD Sport Package, a TRD Off-Road Package, and a Trail Special Edition Package.

The SR5 Upgrade Package contains front bucket seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an upgrade to a 38-gallon fuel tank. The TRD Sport Package issues 20-inch wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, a unique grille, special bumpers and mirror caps, Bilstein shocks, TRD front and rear anti-sway bars, push-button start, TRD floor mats and decals, and a TRD-emblem shift knob. The TRD Off-Road Package gets the contents of the TRD Sport Package, plus 18-inch wheels, tow hooks, and skid plates. The Trail Special Edition Package supplies all-terrain tires, a lockable bed storage box, the same grille as the 1794, a spray-in bedliner, and black seats with tan stitching.

The Limited has 20-inch wheels, chrome exterior accents, LED lights, the larger (38-gallon) fuel tank, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a power-sliding rear window. The Nightshade Special Edition is done up with blacked-out interior and exterior trim. The Platinum gets a black honeycomb-style grille, auto-dimming side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators and memory, perforated leather upholstery, and heated and ventilated front bucket seats.

The 1794 Edition adds many of the Platinum’s features, but it gets a special “1794 Edition” badge and qualifies for front tow hooks and a skid plate for the engine and fuel tank. A sunroof is offered for the 1794 Edition and Platinum. The TRD Pro gets a special TOYOTA logo grille, 18-inch BBS forged-aluminum wheels, Rigid Industries fog lights, a TRD front skid plate, Fox shock absorbers, a suspension with a 2-inch lift, black leather seats, and TRD Pro decals and badges.

Technology Features and Safety

Every trim comes with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver-assist features, including forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The SR5 Convenience Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and front and rear parking sensors. These are included in the Limited Premium Package and are standard on the Platinum and 1794 Edition, but they aren’t offered for the TRD Pro.

The SR gets an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth capability for phone and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, and satellite radio. The SR5 delivers an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, and high-definition radio; Double cab models get a seven-speaker audio system and CrewMax models get a nine-speaker audio system. Navigation is included on the Limited and above trims. The Platinum and above get a premium 12-speaker JBL audio system.
