Trim Levels, Powertrain, and Performance

The 2024 RAV4 has something for everyone with this variety of trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. They all run on a 2.5-liter dynamic force 4-cylinder engine with a direct shift 8-speed automatic transmission. (There are also hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, but we’ll just discuss the conventional RAV4 on this page.) The Adventure and TRD Off-Road will deliver the most comprehensive traction control with their standard drivetrain: Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD (TV-AWD) with multi-terrain select and rear driveline disconnect. Most trims have front-wheel drive (FWD) by default, with Toyota’s regular all-wheel drive (not the TV-AWD found on the Adventure and TRD Off-Road) an option.

The RAV4’s output is 203 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. Most trims can tow up to 1,500 pounds, although the Adventure and TRD Off-Road max out at 3,500 pounds. The fuel economy ratings determined by the EPA depend on the trim. The LE with FWD gets 27 mpg city/35 mpg highway, the XLE and XLE Premium with FWD return 27city /34 hwy, and the Limited with FWD achieves 27 city/35 hwy. With AWD, the highway numbers each drop by one mpg. The Adventure and TRD Off-Road are rated at 25 city/33 hwy and 25 city/32 hwy, respectively.

Standard and Available Equipment

The LE has a black, hexagon-patterned bar grille, remote keyless entry, auto on/off LED headlights and LED daytime running lights (DRL), auto climate control (one zone), black power-folding mirrors, a dual chrome-tipped exhaust, LED taillights, rear privacy glass, three USB ports (two in the center console and one in the front storage tray), one 12V/120W power outlet in each row, a 7-inch digital multi-information display, fabric-trimmed seating, a soft-touch dashboard and armrests with stitched accents, black in-dash storage trays (anti-slip), a day-night rearview mirror, and a height-adjustable rear cargo-area deck board.

The XLE goes from black to color-keyed heated side mirrors and adds low-profile black roof rails, a smart key liftgate, a power moonroof, integrated fog lights, and a height-adjustable liftgate with jam protection. Its interior upgrades are SofTex upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-way power-adjustable front driver's seat, second-row USB ports, a cargo-area tonneau cover, anti-slip door grips, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, and push-button start.

The Adventure boasts standard torque-vectoring AWD and a unique look with large black overfenders, a split-bar upper grille, an exclusive front bumper (upper half color-keyed/lower half black), a black rear bumper with silver inserts, black badging, and raised black roof rails. The cabin has orange accents throughout, including orange-trimmed cup holders and orange contrast stitching across the dash, doors, and SofTex upholstery.

The TRD Off-Road is built for the path less traveled with Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, an independent MacPherson strut front suspension with stabilizer bar, a multi-link rear suspension with stabilizer bar, unique shocks, struts, red-painted shock absorbers, and jounce bumpers. Its design is dominated by blacked-out elements, such as the side mirrors, roof rails, front and rear bumper (with Magnetic Gray Metallic insert), extended overfenders, and badging. The interior has an all-weather cargo liner and floor mats, TRD embroidery on the front headrests, and red contrast stitching.

The Limited raises the comfort factor with heated and ventilated front seating, driver’s seat position memory, a 4-way power front passenger seat, a JBL premium audio system, a HomeLink universal transceiver, blue ambient lighting, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. It's differentiated on the exterior by a dark-gray metallic bar grille with a hexagon pattern, LED headlights with trim-specific daytime running lights, and chrome-trimmed door handles with touch-sensor locks.

Advanced Safety Features

Every trim in the RAV4 lineup gets the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 (TSS 2.5) suite, with all trims carrying pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Trailer-sway control is also standard on every trim. A blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the LE and standard on the other trims. The Limited gets front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, which is an option for the XLE Premium and TRD Off-Road.

Multimedia and Connectivity

All trims get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Toyota Connected Services (for Cloud Navigation, emergency support, and remote features) comes standard with all. The default interface is an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen, although the TRD Pro and Limited upgrade to a 10.5-inch touchscreen (optional for the XLE Premium and Adventure). The Limited gets the loaded treatment with a JBL premium audio system with 11 speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier, which is available for the other trims.
