Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Efficiency

With the 2024 Toyota Prius, you’ll have a choice of three trims: LE, XLE, and Limited. The hybrid powertrain in each consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with either one or two electric motors, depending on the drivetrain (front-wheel or all-wheel). With FWD, the Prius produces 194 hp, but with AWD, it generates 196 hp. The FWD-equipped LE is the most efficient of the trio, returning an EPA-estimated 57 mpg in city driving and 56 mpg on the highway. With AWD, the LE achieves 53 city/54 highway. The FWD XLE and Limited both get 52 city/52 highway, but with AWD, they return 49 city/50 highway.

Equipment by Trim

Toyota outfits the base LE with noteworthy features such as proximity keyless entry, single-zone automatic climate control, a SofTex-wrapped steering wheel, heated side mirrors, push-button start, auto-off bi-LED headlights, a 7-inch driver information display, six USB-C charging ports, and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback. The XLE introduces auto-on headlights, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, SofTex-upholstered seats, wireless phone charging, and a folding second-row armrest with cupholders. The Limited presents the ultimate Prius experience with a fixed-glass roof, ventilated front seats with driver’s position memory, Digital Key, and a power liftgate. For even greater refinement, this classy trim can be ordered with heated rear seats and a digital rearview mirror.

Active Safety Features

In addition to being renowned for its remarkable fuel economy, the Prius is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, which bundles a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, automatic high beams, and proactive driving assist. Every trim also gets a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, plus rear-seat reminder so that kids or pets aren’t mistakenly left behind. The XLE and Limited gain front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking (optional for the LE). The Limited can be upgraded with a surround-view monitor and Advanced Park, Toyota’s seamless hands-free parking system.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The LE and XLE come with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment array featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker sound system. The XLE is eligible to upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen, which is standard in the Limited along with an 8-speaker JBL sound system. Each trim also has free 30-day trial access to an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, while the Limited receives a one-year trial to Drive Connect (available for the LE and XLE via paid subscription), which provides Cloud Navigation with Google Points of Interest, Intelligent Assistant voice recognition, and Destination Assist.
