Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

Buyers interested in the three-row 2023 Sienna have a choice of six trims: LE, XLE, XSE, 25th Anniversary Edition, Limited, and Platinum. The hybrid powertrain in each consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a pair electric of motors. Their combined effort generates a total system output of 245 hp. Power is sent through an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) to either the standard front-wheel or available all-wheel drivetrain. This efficient powertrain allows the ’23 Sienna to achieve excellent fuel economy. With FWD, it returns an EPA-estimated 36 mpg in both the city and on the highway. Siennas with AWD see city fuel economy drop by a single mile per gallon. To top it off, this family favorite is more than ready for road-tripping with its 3,500-pound maximum towing capacity.

Comfort and Convenience

Some of the LE’s most notable features include automatic LED headlights, power-sliding rear doors, heated side mirrors with blind-spot indicators, remote keyless entry, push-button start, an anti-glare rearview mirror, and tri-zone automatic climate control. This trim also comes with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a second-row bench seat with a stowable middle seat, manual second-row sunshades, a 60/40-split third-row seat, and a total of 18 cup and bottle holders.

The XLE is upgraded with hands-free power-sliding rear doors, a power liftgate, a moonroof, four-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery (SofTex), heated front seats with passenger power adjustments, wide-angle LED fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, proximity entry (Smart Key), and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. The XSE is similar, but it has a bolder aesthetic with black exterior accents, a mesh front grille, side rocker panels, larger wheels, and sport-trimmed seats. It also gets a few more upscale items, like thin-profile LED daytime running lights, and an in-car PA system (Driver Easy Speak). This trim also swaps the second-row bench for a pair of second-row captain’s chairs, which drops the seating capacity to seven.

The 25th Anniversary Edition builds off the XSE with deluxe side mirrors (power-folding and auto-dimming with reverse gear tilt-down, position memory, and puddle lights), black roof rails, signature 25th Anniversary badges and floor mats, first- and second-row leather upholstery, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with position memory, and front-row seats with silver stitching and position memory for the driver’s seat. The Limited receives most of those features, minus the 25th Anniversary badges and floor mats and silver-stitched seats. It also gets chrome exterior accents, a wireless phone charger, a 7-inch multi-information display, and manual third-row sunshades. At the peak, the Platinum receives projector-type bi-LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated second-row captain’s chairs with extendable ottomans, and a 10-inch head-up display.

Active Safety Features

Toyota emphasizes passenger protection in the Sienna, outfitting it with a full array of airbags and the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 technology suite. It contains a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, and road sign assist. All trims also have blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, but the XLE and remaining trims also add front and rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking.

Infotainment and Connectivity

You’ll be able to stay connected and entertained no matter where the road takes you in the ’23 Sienna thanks to its well-stocked 9-inch touchscreen multimedia system. All trims have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, a sound system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. While the LE gets six speakers, the XLE and XSE are given eight. Navigation is added at the XSE level, and the Limited and Platinum move up to a high-end 12-speaker JBL audio system. Each trim also gets a USB media port, six USB charging ports, and a 12-volt power outlet.

Packages

A few noteworthy upgrade packages are available for this year’s Sienna. The LE Plus Package will bolster the LE with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, a wireless phone charger, a moonroof, roof rails, and an eight-speaker audio system. The XLE and XSE both qualify for their own respective Plus packages with the same contents (a wireless phone charger, black roof rails, navigation, and a 12-speaker JBL audio system). If the XLE and XSE are ordered with the Plus package, they’ll become eligible for the Entertainment Package, which contains an 11.6-inch HD display, two wireless headphones, a remote, and an HDMI input. The Entertainment Package is offered for the Limited and Platinum grades, too.
