Trims and Standard Features

Toyota has set up the SR to be ready for the work day no matter what season, giving it all of the essentials and a good number of conveniences. It gets heated exterior mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, heated exterior mirrors, push-button ignition, automatic climate control, touch-sensor lock/unlock for the front doors, 18-inch wheels, keyless entry, a 12-volt power outlet, a power back window, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a hidden storage compartment under the back seat with adjustable partitions. The available SR Tow Package will add a Class-IV tow hitch receiver, wiring harness, and 7-pin connector. The SR5 is further outfitted with a deck rail system with fog lights (LED), fixed cargo bed tie-down points, and adjustable tie-down cleats (four).

The upgrades to the Limited trim include enhanced exterior mirrors (auto-dimming with reverse tilt-down, plus blind-spot and turn-signal indicators), dual-zone automatic climate control, SofTex upholstery, heated/ventilated power front seats, driver’s seat position memory, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, and 20-inch wheels. The TRD Off-Road Package is optional; it’ll add an off-road suspension (Bilstein shocks), all-terrain tires on package-specific 20-inch wheels, mud guards, and skid plates). The Platinum is loaded up with comfort and convenience features: leather upholstery, rain-sensing windshield wipers, auto-leveling headlights, wireless smartphone charging, heated and ventilated rear outboard seats, a panoramic moonroof, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a digital rearview mirror, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel (heated), and rear door sunshades. Its bed is also enhanced with LED bed lights and a 120V outlet.

Although it’s equipped similarly to the Platinum, the 1794 Edition gets chrome exterior accents and interior trim in wood grain. As mentioned, the TRD Pro comes only as a 4WD hybrid, and it’s also the most trail-ready of the Tundras – as well as the only one that gets “TOYOTA” stamped on its grille rather than the usual logo. Some of the other components unique to this trim are FOX internal bypass shocks, a trim-specific front skid plate, 18-inch BBS wheels, an electronic locking rear differential, an off-road suspension with a 1.1-inch lift, a front stabilizer bar, and a multi-terrain monitor with views from the front, side, and rear (some of these advanced features are available on lower trims).

Advanced Safety Technology

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard issue on the ’22 Tundra. It makes the drive safer with automatic high beams, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, and road sign assist. Front and rear parking assist with automatic braking is added at the SR5 level, and the Limited receives a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and trailer merge warning. The Platinum and TRD Pro get a panoramic view monitor as standard equipment.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The base infotainment system in the SR sees a larger (8-inch) touchscreen with this new generation. It also has six speakers, wireless smartphone integration (both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth for hands-free phone and audio streaming. The SR5 adds three more speakers. Toyota’s new 14-inch touchscreen first appears on the Limited, while the Platinum and TRD Pro will really please music fans with their standard 12-speaker JBL sound system. Some of these upgrades are available on lower trims as part of optional packages.
