Prius is the most recognizable name among hybrid automobiles, and the icon is back for model year 2027 with even better fuel efficiency. The base LE takes the crown, returning a startling 59 city mpg with the standard front-wheel drive setup, while the AWD version comes close with 56 city mpg (that’s up from the ’26 model’s 57 and 53 mpg, respectively). The higher trims have improved from 52 city mpg to 54 mpg with FWD, and from 49 city mpg to 51 mpg with AWD. Among the more minor changes, dual-zone automatic climate control is now standard, and the Nightshade Edition is now simply called Nightshade. This is the only Prius trim that can be had with the eye-catching Karashi gold exterior paint.
