2026 Toyota Tundra

2026 Toyota
Tundra

In 1999, Toyota broke ground as the first Japanese automaker to build a full-sized pickup in the United States. The flagship truck has enjoyed strong sales ever since, holding its own against the domestic Big Three – Chevy, Ford, and Dodge. For model year 2026, it breaks out a few improvements for enhanced comfort and capability. First off, rear seat air vents – which were once exclusive to the CrewMax cabin – are now standard on the double cab. The top-of-the-line Capstone showcases new textured leather seating surfaces, while the mid-range Limited replaces its SofTex upholstery with real leather. All trims now come with a class-IV trailer hitch receiver and 7-pin wiring harness, and the SR and SR5 are now equipped with the 32.2-gallon fuel tank that the higher trims already had. Changes aside, the Tundra continues to provide a versatile lineup with two available powertrains and a range of specialized trims that cater to a variety of preferences, from utilitarian to off-road to luxurious.

Trims, Powertrains, and Performance

That wide range of 2026 Tundra grades spans seven: the SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone. Toyota’s 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine makes 358 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque on the SR but that rises to 389 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque on the SR5, Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition. The TRD Pro and Capstone upgrade to the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, which pairs the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor at the transmission rather than on an axle, resulting in an additional 48 hp and 284 lb.-ft. of torque (total: 437horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque). It’s available on the Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition. A 10-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with sequential shift mode and uphill/downhill shift logic completes both powertrains. The SR5 has a drive mode selector with Tow/Haul, Eco, Normal, and Sport settings, while Comfort, Sport S, Sport S+, and Custom drive modes are available on the Platinum and higher. The TRD Pro is equipped with a Multi-Terrain Select system with Crawl Control and Downhill Assist Control.

A rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD) is the default on the SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, and the Limited i-FORCE MAX. Those trims are eligible for the four-wheel drivetrain (4WD) that the Platinum and 1794 Edition i-FORCE MAX, TRD PRO, and Capstone all get standard. All Tundras come with an automatic limited-slip differential, while the TRD Pro is outfitted with an electronically controlled locking rear differential (available on certain i-FORCE MAX trims). An independent double-wishbone front suspension and coil spring multi-link rear suspension come standard across the lineup, while the TRD Pro alone receives an off-road suspension package, with a 1.1-inch front lift, 2.5-inch FOX internal bypass coil-overs, rear remote-reservoir stabilizer shocks, and a front stabilizer bar. A load-leveling rear height control air suspension system is available on the SR5 and higher trim levels, and an adaptive variable suspension system is available on the Platinum and up.

The RWD Limited i-FORCE MAX is the most fuel-efficient Tundra, boasting 20 city/24 highway mpg, while the AWD i-FORCE MAX trims and the Capstone achieve 19 city/22 highway mpg. The non-hybrid trims return 18 city/23 highway mpg in RWD and 17 city/22 highway mpg in AWD. The TRD Pro delivers 18 city/20 highway mpg. The Tundra’s top tow limit of 12,000 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 1,940 pounds are both held by the RWD SR5 with the double cab and 6.5-foot bed.

The double cab and 6.5-foot bed are standard on the two lowest trims, while the Limited and above come with a CrewMax cab and 5.5-foot bed (available on the SR and SR5). A double cab with an 8.1-foot bed configuration is also available on the SR and SR5. The CrewMax cab is offered with a 6.5-foot bed on the SR5 and higher trims except for the TRD Pro and Capstone, which are made only with the CrewMax/5.5-foot bed layout.

Standard Equipment by Trim

As the base Tundra, the SR gets fabric seats, a 4.2-inch digital information display with analog gauges, single-zone automatic climate control with S-Flow and rear air vents, a center console with four cupholders and a storage area, front and rear LED map lights, a day/night rearview mirror, a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, and a 60/40-split folding second row with an under-seat storage compartment. Its more sophisticated features include Smart Key with remote keyless entry and push-button ignition, power windows with one-touch auto-up/down, and a horizontal power rear window (vertical in CrewMax cabs). The exterior has front door lock/unlock touch sensors, heated exterior mirrors, LED headlights with auto-on/off functionality and manual leveling adjustment, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, an LED high-mounted stop light with integrated cargo lights, LED trailer reverse lighting, and 18-inch steel wheels. The SR5 adds an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, LED fog lights, and 18-inch silver-painted alloy wheels.

The Limited’s upgrades are leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with an integrated HomeLink universal transceiver, power-folding exterior mirrors with integrated turn and blind-spot warning indicators (plus reverse tilt-down and driver’s-side anti-glare), a power tailgate with knee-lift assist, an acoustic laminated windshield, an illuminated center console and glove box, soft-touch interior trim, a rear seat armrest with cupholders, and 20-inch gray machine-finished alloy wheels. The Platinum goes further with 10-way power-adjustable massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power-tilt/slide panoramic roof with a sunshade, heated and ventilated rear seats, a digital rearview mirror, wireless smartphone charging, auto-leveling LED headlights, front and rear sequential turn signals, rear sunshades, ambient interior lighting, two 120-volt power outlets (rear seat, bed), and 20-inch dark gray-painted alloy wheels. The 1794 Edition stands out with American walnut wood-grain interior accents, an easy-lower/lift tailgate with a smart switch release, all-weather floor mats, trim-exclusive interior and exterior badging, chrome exterior trim, and 20-inch machine-finished alloy wheels. The Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition i-FORCE MAX trims lose the under-seat storage compartment but gain an electronic-locking fuel door—both of which are carried over to the TRD Pro and Capstone.

The trail-ready TRD Pro drops the digital rearview mirror, heated and ventilated rear seats, heated steering wheel, interior ambient lighting, and rear sunshades in favor of SofTex-trimmed seats with camo-pattern inserts (8-way power-adjustable heated front seats), a front/rear/side multi-terrain monitor, an aluminum skid plate, Xply high-strength undercarriage (engine, fuel tank, and transfer case) covers, red-painted front coil springs and stabilizer bar, a grille-integrated LED light bar and marker lights, aluminum sport pedals, a red-striped leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, front and rear mudguards, TRD-exclusive accents and badging, dual black exhaust tips, and Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires on 18-inch matte-black forged-aluminum BBS wheels. The Capstone brings back the digital rearview mirror, interior ambient lighting, rear sunshades, and walnut wood-grain trim. It also shows off premium textured leather seats, a 10-inch head-up display (available on the Platinum and 1794 Edition), power running boards and BedStep, metal speaker grilles, acoustic laminated side windows, trim-exclusive floor mats, a chrome-tipped exhaust, and 22-inch dark chrome machine-finished alloy wheels.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The 2026 Tundra lineup comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 installed, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. The Limited adds a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking assist with automatic braking, and trailer merge warning, all of which are available on the SR5 via the Convenience Package. Drive-start control and hill start assist control are also standard, as is a backup camera with a projected path. The Platinum, 1794 Edition, and Capstone and get a panoramic view monitor, which is available on the SR5 and Limited (the SR and TRD Pro aren’t eligible).

Infotainment and Connectivity

The SR and SR5 come standard with an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system, which is upgraded to a 14-inch touchscreen system in the Limited and above (it’s available for the SR5). All trims have wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The SR and SR5 come with six speakers in the double cab and nine speakers in the CrewMax, as does the Limited. Starting with the Platinum, the sound situation is improved with a JBL system with 12 speakers, a subwoofer, and an amplifier (available on the Limited). Access to Toyota’s subscription-based Connected Services, which include Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, navigation, and roadside assistance, is standard on all.
