2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hero

The Corolla Cross is Toyota’s venture into the compact crossover segment, blending the ever-popular Corolla’s powertrain with a larger profile and cabin blended with the versatility of a small SUV. While it’s not as roomy as the RAV4, it still provides more cargo space (up to 24 cubic feet behind the rear seat) and ground clearance (8 inches) than its sedan or hatchback namesake.

The Corolla Cross takes on a new look for the 2026 model year. The front end sports a new grille, flanked by headlights with dark accents, and matching combination taillights. The XLE trim forgoes its former chrome-trimmed grille in favor of a more modern look but retains the chrome molding on the side windows. The L is now equipped with Bi-LED projector headlights like the rest of the Corolla Cross family; LED daytime running lights are standard as well. The XLE also has a new wheel design with a dark-gray metallic finish, and Calvary Blue joins the color palette, replacing Blue Crush Metallic.

Inside, the L and LE ditch their old analog gauges and 4.2-inch information display to upgrade to a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster, while the higher trim levels upgrade from the same 7-inch instrument display to a new 12.3-inch cluster, which is paired with a 10.5-inch multimedia touchscreen. A redesigned center console and low-profile shift knob free up space in every trim, and the XLE gets a new interior color called Portobello. The options have also changed: the Cold Weather Package (heated front seats and a heated steering wheel) is now available on the AWD LE, which outfits it with.

The 2026 Corolla Cross, like every new Toyota, is covered by a ToyotaCare no-cost maintenance plan, which includes regular factory-scheduled maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, and multipoint inspections) for two years or 25,000 miles, plus 24-hour roadside assistance for two years and unlimited miles.

Trims and Powertrain

For 2026, drivers can choose from three Corolla Cross trims: L, LE, and XLE. The powertrain pairs a 169-horsepower 2-liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). There’s also a gas-electric variant, the Corolla Cross Hybrid, which we cover on a separate page.

Every trim returns 31 mpg city and 33 mpg highway with the standard front-wheel drivetrain (FWD), dropping to 29 city/31 highway mpg with the optional all-wheel drivetrain (AWD). An independent MacPherson front struts with a stabilizer bar, coil springs, and hydraulic shock absorbers comes standard. The FWD version rides on a torsion-beam rear suspension with coil springs, trailing arms, and hydraulic shock absorbers. The AWD version swaps the aforementioned system for a multi-link rear suspension with a stabilizer bar, coil springs, trailing arms, and hydraulic shock absorbers. The ‘26 Corolla Cross has a towing limit of 1,500 pounds, regardless of drivetrain.
