2025 Toyota Tundra

25 tundra

Overview

The truck market is usually associated with American heavyweights like Ford and Chevy, but the Toyota Tundra stands out as a formidable contender, bringing its own form of rugged refinement to the segment. Known for its robust performance, reliability, and durability, the Tundra continues to be one of the most respected full-size pickups in its class. It boasts a towing capacity of up to 12,000 pounds and is invigorated by a potent twin-turbo V6 engine with an output of 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque.

For 2025, the Tundra has some exciting updates to brag about, including the Baja-inspired TRD Rally Package containing a tri-color grille accent, off-road wheels with all-terrain tires, and various other trail-tackling components such as an electronically locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, and Crawl Control. Massaging front seats are now available as well, and the SR5 now has a power-adjustable driver's seat. To top it off, an appropriately named Mudbath paint option is now offered for the adventure-read TRD Pro.

Trims, Powertrains, and Performance

The 2025 Tundra is a full-sized, light-duty pickup truck available in seven trim packages: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone. Buyers can choose from two cab configurations (Double Cab and CrewMax) and three bed lengths (5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8.1-foot). The standard i-FORCE powertrain features a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine tuned to produce 358 hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque in the SR, while the higher trims (SR5, Limited, Platinum, and 1794 Edition) get an enhanced version making 389 hp and 479 lb.-ft. of torque.

The TRD Pro and Capstone are equipped with the hybrid i-FORCE MAX powertrain, which pairs the V6 with an electric motor for a total output of 437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. All of these engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission; a rear-wheel drivetrain is standard on most trims, while four-wheel drive is available across the lineup (standard on TRD Pro and Capstone). The Tundra can tow up to 12,000 pounds and handle a payload of 1,940 pounds.

Fuel Efficiency

Fuel economy for the latest Tundra varies according to the powertrain. With the standard i-FORCE RWD models, the EPA-estimated return is 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, while the 4WD versions achieve 17 city/23 highway. The hybrid i-FORCE MAX models offer slightly better efficiency, with 20 mpg city/24 mpg highway for RWD and 19 city/22 highway for 4WD. Meanwhile, the off-road-focused TRD Pro will give its drivers 18 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.

Standard and Available Features

The base SR comes well equipped with convenient features such as proximity keyless entry, push-button start, fabric upholstery, single-zone automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch digital gauge cluster, a 60/40-split folding rear bench with underseat storage, automatic LED headlights, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, and 18-inch wheels. The SR5 is improved with an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, LED fog lights, a drive mode selector, adjustable cargo bed tie-down points, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Limited brings a higher level of luxury, with SofTex leatherette upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, a leather-wrapped shift knob, soft-touch materials, and a power rear window. Beyond that, it receives power-folding/extending side mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming and turn signal/blind spot warning indicators, a power tailgate, and 20-inch wheels.

The Platinum raises the bar with leather upholstery, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, a heated power-tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, wireless phone charging, a panoramic roof, a digital rearview mirror, rear sunshades, ambient interior lighting, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Western-themed 1794 Edition adds a more unique touch with wood-grain décor and all-weather floor mats.

Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the TRD Pro's standard 4WD, electronically controlled locking rear differential, off-road suspension, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, downhill assist, underbody skid plates, auto-leveling LED headlights, LED light bar, and BBS wheels with all-terrain tires. Not only that, but the interior is outfitted with striking red accents, leatherette seats with technical camo-pattern inserts, and aluminum sport pedals. At the top of the lineup, the Capstone is replete with luxury upgrades like semi-aniline leather upholstery, a 10-inch head-up display, power-retracting running boards, acoustic-laminated side windows, 22-inch wheels, and Toyota’s BedStep for easy cargo access.

Many of those high-end features are available for the lower trims as options.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Every ‘25 Tundra is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. With the Limited and above trims, the safety factor rises with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, trailer merge warning, and parking sensors with automatic braking.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The SR and SR5 have an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a sound system with six speakers, and Bluetooth for hands-free phone calls and audio streaming. The Limited and above upgrade to a 14-inch touchscreen, with a 12-speaker JBL audio system coming standard starting at the Platinum level.

All trims include a 30-day trial of Wi-Fi Connect, with an extended Drive Connect trial available on higher trims, offering cloud-based navigation, advanced voice recognition, and 24/7 access to live agents.
