2025 Toyota Sequoia

25 sequoia

Overview

Model year 2025 marks a continuation of the third-generation Toyota Sequoia, the company’s full-sized SUV that’s known for dynamic styling, potent hybrid power, and three-row capability. Yet, in typical Toyota fashion, the automaker didn’t rest on its laurels when bringing out this latest version. The 2025 Sequoia lineup has expanded with the 1794 Edition, which commemorates the Texas ranch that now serves as the grounds of the Toyota factory that makes the Sequoia and the Tundra pickup. Toyota has also dialed up luxury with the availability of front-row massaging seats. Technology is another hallmark of the Sequoia, from the latest driver-assistance features to an advanced infotainment system. Plus, the innovation factor has increased with the new Tow Tech Package, making towing – and backing up with a trailer – less stressful.

Powertrains, Space, and Fuel Economy

The 2025 Sequoia comes in six trim packages: SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone. Every version runs on the same hybrid setup—a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 engine paired with an electric motor, for a combined output of 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. The SR5 and Limited are available with either the standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) or optional four-wheel drive (4WD), while the higher trims are 4WD only. A ten-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties. When it’s properly equipped, the Sequoia can tow between 8,980 and 9,520 pounds.

The cargo space is notably flexible. With both back rows folded flat, there will be 86.9 cubic feet of room. Behind the second row, the space measures 49.0 cubic feet. With all three rows holding passengers, the cargo capacity ranges from 11.5 to 22.3 cubic feet, thanks to a sliding third row that adjusts for cargo or passenger needs.

Fuel economy varies by drivetrain. RWD Sequoias are EPA-rated for 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, while 4WD versions return 19 mpg around town and 22 mpg on the open road. To help save fuel, Toyota designed the Sequoia to run mostly on electric power at speeds under 18 mph when conditions allow.

Standard Features and Options

The base grade, the SR5, is configured for eight passengers and comes well-equipped with several premium features. Its standard amenities include a power moonroof, tri-zone climate control, fabric upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED cabin lighting, heated power side-view mirrors with turn indicators, USB ports, and 18-inch alloy wheels. For towing needs, a Class-IV hitch receiver and wiring harness come standard. The TRD Off-Road Package is available for 4WD versions of the SR5 to add upgraded suspension components, protective skid plates, and additional off-road features. The Premium Package brings SofTex leatherette upholstery, a hands-free power liftgate, and power-folding third-row seats.

The Limited grade adds heated and ventilated front seats, SofTex upholstery, a heated steering wheel, position memory for the driver's seat, distinct exterior styling elements, and 20-inch alloy wheels. As far as options, it’s eligible for the TRD Off-Road Package, the Nightshade appearance package, power running boards, and a panoramic power moonroof. The Platinum reduces seating capacity to seven while increasing the luxury appointments with the likes of second-row captain's chairs, leather upholstery, massaging first-row seats, heating and ventilation for both first- and second-row seats, and a power panoramic moonroof. Premium LED headlights, ambient interior lighting, and wireless device charging complete the list. Available options include the TRD Off-Road Package, load-leveling rear height control air suspension, and power-deployable running boards.

The TRD Pro builds upon the Limited's foundation, incorporating several premium features while adding enhanced off-road capability through the TRD Off-Road Package components. The interior stands out with exclusive SofTex-trimmed seats featuring camouflage pattern inserts. Other notable touches include premium LED lighting elements, an integrated LED light bar, and a distinctive dual-tip exhaust system. Options for the TRD Pro include a power panoramic moonroof and power-extending mirrors for towing. The Texas-themed 1794 trim expands on the Sequoia Platinum with Saddle Tan leather, genuine walnut interior accents, exclusive interior and exterior treatments, all-weather floor mats, and the Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist.

The range-topping Capstone underscores the luxury factor with semi-aniline leather upholstery, 10-way power front seats with lumbar support, and a 60/40-split-folding third row with power operation, distinctive exterior accents, and 22-inch alloy wheels. An air suspension system for the rear axle is optional.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Every 2025 Sequoia includes Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which bundles several driver-assist features. This standard package includes forward collision prevention with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering correction, lane centering assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view monitor, trailer merge warning, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking. A head-up display comes standard on the Capstone and is optional for the Platinum and 1794. For all trims, the core safety equipment includes eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control systems, and a backup camera.

Infotainment and Connectivity

An advanced touchscreen anchors the Sequoia's infotainment features. The SR5 has an 8-inch display, while all other grades move up to a 14-inch screen. The SR5's Premium Package also includes the larger screen upgrade. The standard connectivity features are wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio service. Every trim has access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and Toyota Connected Services for cloud navigation, emergency assistance, and remote vehicle functions.
