2025 Toyota
RAV4 PHEV
Toyota’s RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) is an ideal solution for drivers seeking the advantages of an
electric vehicle with the versatility of having a gas engine to fall back on. This efficient compact
crossover will give you about 42 fully battery-electric miles for your commute or around-town business
before seamlessly transferring duties to its hybrid mode. And its performance isn’t at all compromised:
The RAV4 PHEV has great torque off the line, with the ability to hit 60 mph in just 5.5
seconds.
Toyota simplified the nomenclature for its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models for model year
2025, swapping “Prime” in the RAV4 Prime and the Prius Prime for the more self-explanatory “PHEV.” Its
two trim levels, the sporty SE and the feature-filled XSE, bring a lot to the eco-conscious driver’s
table, with desirable standard features such as wireless smartphone connection, heated front seats, and
the comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense driver-assist technology suite. All RAV4 PHEVs are also covered by
ToyotaCare, a complimentary maintenance package that takes care of basic scheduled services for two
years or 25,000 miles, plus two years of roadside assistance.
Trims and Mechanical Specs
As mentioned, Toyota presents the 2025 RAV4 PHEV in two trim choices, SE and XSE. They both run on the
automaker’s latest plug-in power system, which unites a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric
motors, one on each axle. This combination yields 302 net horsepower and also includes plug-in
capability for all-electric driving. All-wheel drive is standard, as is a continuously variable
transmission (CVT).
The model’s EPA-determined fuel economy averages 42 miles of electric-only
range and 94 MPGe combined. When it’s running in hybrid mode, the RAV4 returns up to 40 mpg around town
and 36 mpg on the highway. On a full battery charge and full gas tank, the RAV4 PHEV will give you
approximately 600 miles of travel. The designated cargo space is ample at 33.5 cubic feet, which will
increase to 69.8 cubic feet with the back seats folded down. Both trims can tow up to 2,500 pounds with
the proper equipment.

The SE is outfitted with cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats,

Each RAV4 PHEV is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 technology suite, consisting of lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard on both trims. The Premium Package, optional on the XSE as described above, adds front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking and a surround-view monitor.
Staying Connected and Informed
An 8-inch touchscreen is the command center for the SE’s infotainment features, while the XSE gets an upgrade to 10.5 inches. Both trim systems are given wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to Toyota Connected Services for emergency services, Cloud Navigation, and other features.
