2025 Toyota Corolla Hatchback

25 corolla hatchback

Overview

The 2025 Toyota Corolla balances style, great driving manners, and technology while remaining affordable and efficient. Although Toyota released several generations of the Corolla with a hatched body in the 20th century, this modern version was introduced in 2018 and immediately caught on with buyers. As a five-door with sporty touches, it has a fun attitude that suits those who want a more youthful feel and look than a sedan provides.

Safety is important to the Corolla legacy: it was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick in 2023 and received a perfect five-star safety rating from the NHTSA (2024), proving there’s more to the hatchback than meets the eye. For added peace of mind, drivers don’t have to worry about paying for the scheduled maintenance of the Corolla Hatchback. Toyota covers all of the recommended services for the first two years or 25,000 miles and provides complimentary roadside assistance with unlimited mileage during the first two years.

Trims and Powertrains

Toyota offers the Corolla Hatchback in three grades: SE, Nightshade, and XSE. All include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 169 horsepower. The engine’s high compression ratio (13:1), high-speed combustion, and ultra-low internal friction help it to perform more like a sports car. Standard with each grade is a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that powers the front-wheel drivetrain. A drive mode selector allows the driver to choose from Normal, Sport, and Eco modes to suit their preferences in specific situations.

The EPA’s official estimations show that the 2025 Corolla Hatchback remains a star when it comes to fuel economy. The SE and Nightshade achieve 32 mpg in city driving and 41 mpg on the highway, while the XSE returns 30 city/38 highway.

Standard Features

The SE has the most basic features, with fabric upholstery, a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way adjustable passenger seat, automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display (MID), the Smart Key System, a 12V auxiliary power outlet, two USB charging ports, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with tilt/telescoping feature, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, heated power side-view mirrors with turn signal indicators, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The Nightshade has similar features but unique style, showcasing blacked-out features (roof-mounted shark-fin antenna, front lower grille surround, badging, rear spoiler, and power outer mirrors), a Midnight Black Metallic roof, and 18-inch bronzed alloy wheels.

The top-spec XSE earns its stripes with some significant upgrades. Those upscale attributes include SofTex upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, a 7-inch digital customizable gauge cluster, power-adjustable front seats (8-way driver, 4-way passenger), blind-spot indicators on the side-view mirrors, integrated LED fog lights, dual-chromed rear diffuser accents on the single exhaust, and 18-inch graphite alloy wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All Toyota Corolla Hatchbacks have the Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) driver-assist suite. Its components are pre-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, lane trace assist, lane departure alert, automatic high-beam headlights, steering assist, traffic sign recognition, a backup camera, and proactive driving assist. The available SE Package adds rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot warning indicators to the outside mirrors (these are standard on the XSE).

Infotainment and Connectivity

An 8-inch touchscreen is used to manage the Corolla Hatchback’s multimedia features, which consist of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The two lower trims have a six-speaker audio system, while the XSE upgrades to a premium JBL sound system with eight speakers and an amplifier. Toyota also includes several trial services: Safety Connect for stolen vehicle location and enhanced roadside assistance, Drive Connect for cloud navigation, Remote Connect, which allows the use of the Toyota app to interact with the vehicle, and Service Connect for maintenance updates.
